The connection frays. Two people who understood each other suddenly do not, or the mutuality has tilted so one is pouring while the other is barely receiving. Sometimes this is a rough patch that honesty will mend. Sometimes it is the relationship showing you it was built on a misunderstanding of what each person wanted.
