Moon Phases & Rituals
The moon's eight phases offer a natural rhythm for your practice. Each carries its own energy, an aligned spread, a companion crystal, and a ritual.
The Eight Moon Phases
- New Moon — Planting Intentions
The dark, fertile beginning of the cycle, when the moon is hidden from view. This is the moment to set intentions and plant seeds. The darkness is not empty — it is full of potential, like soil before the first sprout. - Waxing Crescent — First Steps
As a sliver of light returns, the waxing crescent invites you to take one small, concrete action toward the intention you set. Momentum is fragile here, so be gentle. - First Quarter — Decisions and Obstacles
The moon is half-lit and the cycle reaches a natural crossroads. Resistance often appears — the gap between intention and reality becomes visible. This is the time for decisions and recommitment. - Waxing Gibbous — Refinement
The moon is nearly full, swelling with light. A time to review your progress with honesty and patience, to tend the details, and to release perfectionism. - Full Moon — Release and Celebration
The luminous peak of the cycle — powerful, revealing, and a little wild. Emotions run high, and what has been hidden tends to surface. Celebrate what has bloomed and release what no longer serves you. - Waning Gibbous — Gratitude
As the light begins to recede, the Disseminating Moon turns the focus outward. This is a season of gratitude and sharing: giving back, offering your wisdom, and expressing thanks for recent growth. - Last Quarter — Forgiveness and Shadow Work
The half-lit moon wanes toward darkness, and we are invited to forgive, release grudges, and clear clutter both physical and emotional. - Waning Crescent — Rest and Surrender
The balsamic moon calls us into deep rest. This is a time for dreaming, quiet integration, and surrender before the cycle begins anew. Resist the urge to push; the field is meant to lie fallow.
