Labradorite

Labradorite looks unremarkable — gray, almost dull — until it catches light at the right angle, and then it flashes with sudden color: blues, greens, sometimes gold, moving across the surface like something alive underneath the stone. That optical effect, called labradorescence, is exactly why this stone has such a strong reputation for mystery and hidden depth: it genuinely conceals something until conditions are right to reveal it.
