Reversed Meaning
The discontent breaks. Something finally gets through the boredom and the crossed arms, and you realize you had been refusing offers because accepting one would require caring again. Apathy is sometimes just grief that has not found its shape yet, and the numbness was protecting you from the feeling underneath.

What were you protecting yourself from by staying numb? Name it as plainly as you can. The numbness made sense at the time it started. The question worth asking now is whether it still earns its place, or whether it has outlasted the thing it was guarding against.
