Fluorite

Fluorite is one of the more visually varied stones you'll encounter — the same mineral can turn up in green, purple, blue, or banded combinations of all three, sometimes within a single specimen. It's also known for fluorescing under UV light, which is genuinely where the term "fluorescence" comes from. That built-in association with hidden light becoming visible fits its reputation well.
