Upright Meaning
Symbolizes generosity, charity, giving and receiving, and financial balance. It suggests acts of kindness, fair exchange, or finding equilibrium in material transactions.
Reversed Meaning
The balance tips. The generosity has become transactional, or you are giving in order to get, or the power dynamic in the exchange has become visible and uncomfortable for everyone. Charity with strings attached is not generosity. It is control wearing a kinder costume, and the recipient can always feel the strings.
Deeper Exploration
Notice your giving this week. For each act, ask whether you would still do it if no one ever knew. The ones that depend on being seen are the ones to examine, because they are not really about the giving. They are about the image of yourself as someone who gives.
