Transitions do not move on a schedule, and the middle of the crossing is the hardest place to be patient because there is no clear view in either direction.

You are not where you were, and you are not where you are going. That is allowed. Name one thing that is already lighter than it was, even if the shore is still far off. The lighter thing is proof of movement, and movement matters more than speed right now.
